Innovative Concepts

Michael has headlined some of the world's most prestigious venues. Concert halls such as the likes of: The Kennedy Center, Blues Alley (Washington DC's premier jazz club), The Roxy (Los Angeles), The Sarah Gould Theatre (New York City), The Barns of Wolftrap (Vienna VA), The Ellicott Theatre (Ellicott City, MD), Hammerjacks (Baltimore, MD), Exhibition Hall (Glasgow, Scotland), The Marquee (London, England), Wembley Hall (London, England), Music Meese (Frankfurt, Germany), and so forth.

Imagine however having a world-class jazz guitarist in your living room for a private concert. The idea of "Living Room Concerts" is not a new one, but rather an idea that was used in the 1800's and 1900's in the parlors of many homes across this great country. In Europe, this has been going on for many centuries, usually with music being classical, as was the style.

A popular routine is as follows: 10 to 20, or even 30 of your friends arrive for cocktails at 5:30 pm; then at 6 pm a one-hour intimate concert of some of the very best solo jazz guitar music you've heard (see reviews); dinner at 7, then another performance at 8 pm!

One of the "magical" qualities of this intimate type of setting is that every tune is open to interpretation from you, the audience. Questions are routinely asked about all phases of the music business, and artistic genres in general.

Another novel approach is the "Guitars of the Americas" concept that involves Michael and the renowned Brazilian acoustic guitar virtuoso Ney Mello. This is a performance that contrasts two distinctly original artists, each with their own (American and Brazilian) approach to the solo jazz guitar repertoire. Both players are great friends as well, which makes for a very memorable event, and have performed together in some of the aforementioned venues. Whether your taste is the Bossa Nova, a moody ballad, an up tempo swing tune, or a blues standard, both of these world-class guitarists will bring his identity to the composition, and create a remarkable contrast for you to enjoy, both taking turns in their presentation. Also, as an added feature, Michael and Ney have many duets written and arranged for recording and performance, and the evening is always ended with these two playing together.

Lastly, Michael's critically acclaimed jazz, rock, fusion trio, The Michael Fath Group specializes in the concert setting, and brings to mind many of the finest instrumentalists on the planet such as; Jeff Beck, Eric Johnson, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen, and the legendary Danny Gatton! This is a band that ranges in style from hot country to neo-classic, be-bop to funk, and blues to swing, all very deftly presented in a truly unforgettable experience!

Michael's career has to date has been a blend of the aforementioned musical concepts, even including solo classical recitals, and his now long-gone but still talked about country, jazz, fusion group The Virginia Rangers, and his legendary 9-piece horn band Le Jazz; and will continue to with his novel approach to perfecting his art!
